On 27 March the Chairman of the SA Productivity Commission Mr Adrian Tembel spoke at an event on boosting productivity hosted by the Committee for Adelaide. His speech highlighted South Australia’s Growth Paradox over recent years, where economic growth has been outperforming the national average, unemployment rates have been at historically low levels, and yet real wages for average South Australians have fallen sharply due to the impact of inflation.
Mr Tembel went on to say that in order to deliver sustainable growth in the real wages of South Australians we need to increase the level of innovation in the state, boost labour productivity, and deliver more investment in technology in SA workplaces, together with the skills that allow those investments to be transformative.
