The South Australian Productivity Commission has been asked by the Premier to undertake a Review of Red Tape in South Australia, with a particular focus on reducing unnecessary regulatory burden on businesses in South Australia. In particular, we are asked to:

• Identify specific priority reform opportunities in state and local government regulation.
• Include licensing and approvals, compliance obligations, and interactions with regulators and agencies in the scope of the inquiry.
• Focus on practical and specific regulatory reforms that could be implemented in South Australia at either the state or local government level.
• Prioritise the recommended reforms by their potential impact.

The scope of the inquiry does not include taxation or cost recovery fees. Whole of government processes for monitoring and managing regulation have been the subject of past reports and are out of scope for this inquiry.

The final report is due to be submitted to the Premier in June 2027.
