Notice of Inquiry

The South Australian Government has asked the Commission to undertake an inquiry to “evaluate the effectiveness and efficiency of State Government policies and practices for the procurement of goods and services (not including capital projects) and identify reform options to improve procurement practices and the impact of procurement on local industry output and employment.”

The Terms of Reference Stage 1 for this inquiry state that the Commission “…should consult with a cross section of businesses operating in South Australia, the Small Business Commissioner, Industry Advocate, State Procurement Board, key business associations and industry representation (including unions), as part of the public engagement process.”

The Commission will shortly release an issues paper that sets out the Commission’s initial understanding of the matters to be addressed. This paper will seek input from interested parties, both on the matters identified as well as any other relevant issues that may have been missed.

The Premier has directed that a draft report be made available by 22 March 2019 and the final report by 17 May 2019.
